Area gymnasts meet Olympians
The gymnasts at Stroup’s Gymnastics, Jamestown, N.Y., were privileged to watch a few Olympic gymnasts practice at their own gym recently. The visitors were there to prepare for the show at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena, Jamestown, N.Y. Artistic director Paul Ziert spoke to Stroup’s gymnasts and their parents. He gave them some insights into what was being done with the show. Then they were treated to a picture together. The Erie Explosion, CIFL indoor arena football team, will host a final free agent tryout on Friday Jan. 24, 2014. The tryout will be held at Family First Sports Park at 8155 Oliver Road, Erie, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the fieldhouse.
This will be the final open tryout and the team will sign 1-to-3 players from this camp to their training camp roster.
The East at Warren wrestling match Wednesday will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Warren Area High School and be a varsity-only match.
In addition, Monday's Central Tech at Warren match was been postponed once again. A makeup date has not yet been announced.
Warren County-native Devon Olson finished second overall, out of 29 runners that completed the Table Rock Ultras 50-mile race Saturday in Morgantown, N.C. Olson finished in 8 hours, 28 minutes and 21 seconds, or 12 minutes roughly behind the leader.
It is Olson's forth ultra race of at least 50 miles in 2013, including winning a 70-mile race in Pa. and completing a 100-mile race.
