Red Kettle success
Thank you to the many volunteers from the local area chuches who gave of their time to ring the bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign this season. Pictured here is the Straight Family ringing the bell on Christmas Eve.
The Sugar Grove Free Library will be holding a Scrabble Tournament on Saturday, February 1st from 10:00 a.m. Noon at the Library. Admission for participants will be $10 and proceeds will benefit the local library. Anyone interested in participating can stop in the library for a registration form. Official scrabble rules that are included with every Scrabble Game will be followed There will be four, 30-minute rounds and there will be a 2-minute limit per turn. Scores from all rounds will be added together to determine the winners. If you are a lover of Scrabble, then this is a day for you.
Red Kettle Campaign
Thank you to all the Sugar Grove Community who came out to give to the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign throughout the holiday season. Volunteers from all the area churches were on hand each weekend and the week of Christmas to man the kettle and ring the bell. The kettle was located outside of the Town and Country Food Center. The Red Kettle Campaign helps raise donations for those who need it most by providing toys for kids, coats for the homeless, food for the hungry, and countless other programs. Again, thank you for your generosity.
Today at the Mission Covenant Church starting at 11:30 a.m. Community Lunch everyone is welcome to attend. The Community Lunches in the area continue to be well attended. All lunches begin at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend any or all of the area Community lunches. Each month lunch is held on the 1st Friday of the month at the Mission Covenant Church at the corner of Matthews Run and Jackson Run Road. On the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church located at the corner of Race Street and Jamestown Street in the center of town. On the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church located in Chandlers Valley. Everyone is invited to attend.
The January's choice for the Sugar Grove Fre Library Book club is selected by Marjean Hawkins is a book by Lenore Skomal called Third Willow. Lenore Skomal is an author from Erie\. The library has arranged for her to participate in book discussion by Skype or in person, if the weather is nice. Copies of the book are currently available at the library. The meeting will be Jan. 27. Call the library if you have any questions on participating in the SGFL book club.
Sugar Grove Borough
The January Sugar Grove Borough Council meeting will be held at the Sugar Grove Building on Monday, January 6th starting at 7 p.m. The General Public is welcome to attend.
