Even inside, the great outdoors is a hit in Warren County.
The 2014 edition of the Warren County Outdoor, Travel and Gun Show drew thousands of people to Warren Mall last weekend.
"The show was very well received," event organizer John Papalia, Council on Tourism director, said. "We estimate around 8,500 people through the show this year."
They were there to visit the dozens of vendors offering everything from guns to T-shirts to natural foods. "I think the best part of our show is the diversity of the vendors," Papalia said. "There really is something for almost anyone."
"All of the vendors seemed to do well this year and felt it was our best show yet," he said. "We have received deposits for next year's show already."
That those thousands of people were in the mall increased the sales at the full-time stores.
"I am also very happy that the mall merchants did well this weekend," Papalia said. "It is great to be able to drive some traffic to those stores."
The event relies on the help of those who are not paid for their efforts.
"As with many of our other events I can't thank the people and businesses of Warren enough for the support they give from sponsorship, borrowing equipment, volunteers, and people coming out and enjoying the show," Papalia said.
The mall has plenty of parking, but organizers are thinking of streamlining the parking process.
"Looking forward to next year we will probably try to address parking, maybe try and recruit some organizations to help us park cars," Papalia said. "It has been amazing to watch this show evolve over the years, and we can't wait for another great show in 2015."
