Sexual abuse of children. Warren-based state police reported that on Jan. 27. Tyler M. Engle, 21, Pittsfield, was discovered to be in possession of images that depicted a child under the age of 18. Charges were filed through District Justice Cynthia Limdemuth's office. Engle was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Crash. Warren-based state police responded to a one-vehicle accident on US 6 east of Old Route 6 on Feb. 2 at 4:31 p.m. A 1998 Toyota driven by Crystal Miller, Youngsville, was traveling east on US 6 before losing control, striking a bridge rail off of the south side of the roadway, traveled north across both lanes and stuck a bridge rail off the north side of the roadway. The vehicle came to final rest facing north blocking one lane. The vehicle was towed by Bob's Towing. Miller, as well as two juvenile passengers, were not injured. Youngsville VFD assisted with traffic control.
Hit and run crash. Conewango Township police reported that on Feb. 5 at 9:15 a.m. a white Ford Explorer or Expedition being driven by a female lost control on the icy roads while traveling north on Market St. The vehicle spun out of control and struck a PennDOT road sign in the median, causing the sign to be broken off at its base and to land in the southbound lane of travel on Market St. The driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident and failed to report the incident to the police. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Conewango Township police department.
Crash. Warren-based state police responded to a one-vehicle accident on Feb. 1 at 9:36 p.m. A 2007 Mazda 3 driven by Michael Himes, Jr., 19, Russell, was traveling west on West Road. Himes was attempting to slow down for a stop sign, lost control, skidded through the intersection of Rhine Run Road and hit the ditch. The vehicle came to final rest facing north off the west side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Pennmark Towing. Himes was uninjured but was cited with stop signs and yield signs.
Attempted theft. Corry-based state police reported that between 2 and 4 p.m. on Jan. 9 that someone attempted to remove a three-point hitch winch from the property of Beverly T. Dunham, Pittsfield.
Crash. Warren-based state police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the parking lot of the Warren Area Elementary Center on Feb. 3 at 5 p.m. The crash occurred as a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Carrie Owens, Warren, was parallel parked in front of a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Owens attempted to pull from a parked position and struck the other vehicle while backing up. Owens then fled the scene without giving proper notification of striking the other vehicle. The Santa Fe sustained minor damage and was able to be driven by the scene. Owens was cited with accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property.
Crash. Warren-based state police responded to a one-vehicle accident on Feb. 1 at 4:55 p.m. A 2000 Ford Mustang driven by a 17-year-old female was traveling south on Page Hollow Road north of Smith Hill Road. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle causing the vehicle to travel 60 feet off the west berm, striking a mailbox. After the initial point of impact, the vehicle traveled an additional 30 feet striking a utility pole and then an additional 150 feet coming to rest along the west side of the roadway. The driver, who was not injured, made arrangements for the removal of the vehicle and was cited with driving on roadways laned for traffic. Warren Electric Cooperative arrived on scene to remove wires from the roadway and replace the utility pole.
Theft. Warren-based state police reported that on Feb. 2 between 11:30 p.m. and 8:40 a.m. someone siphoned gas from a vehicle belonging to Frank Constanzo, Clarendon. Total stolen is estimated at $35. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police or the Warren County Crime Stoppers.
