The annual legislators luncheon was held Feb. 8 in Warren Conewango Club with Pennsylvania House Representative Kathy Rapp and Senator Scott Hutchinson. Discussion included Pennsylvania League questions regarding Medicaid expansion and federal funding on state health care, redistricting reform and affects on rural areas, election reform laws to make it easier for new candidates and voters, and education funding "hold harm less" system formula positively affecting rural school district funding. League members Susan Swab, Dr. Susan Stout, Debbie Haines and Phyllis Wright led league question discussions.
Other subjects of interest were the future of state pensions , health care for rural hospitals and those without insurance, regulations affecting small business VS corporate business (agriculture, manufacturing etc.), and environmental issues such as laws affecting needs of rural VS urban areas. The event was organized by Michelle Gray - VP for LWV program chair.
Other business included 2014 Warren League of Women "Warren Government Directory" will soon be release. The PA league will participate in the DEP hearing on oil and gas regulations on Feb. 12, and plans for expansion of high school and public voter spring registration.
