This Jamestown Elite 7th grade AAU basketball team, which includes three Warren-area youth, won the Roc City Cager Classic in Rochester, N.Y., this past weekend — their fourth tourney championship out of seven entered this spring. Jamestown posted victories over St. Catherine’s-Ontario, Syracuse Select, and Lancaster-Ontario, and then beat Syracuse Select again in the championship game. Several members of Tigers After School Karate were recently tested and promoted in Kaneda Goshin Jutsu after they underwent an examination on their knowledge of Karate and self-defense techniques. The testing was conducted by Fighting Tigers Martial Arts Soke Grand Master Kimio Nelson. The following students were promoted to Orange Belt; (above, left to right) Ciara Sherwood, Jason Stillson, Wyatt Sanders, Anthony Sabella and Branden Wood (at right). Jim Fehlman shot the low gross of 42 and tied with John Holthouse for the low net of 35 in Youngsville Area Senior Golf League play on Tuesday. Ron Brown eagled and Fehlman notched a pair of birdies.

Warren Area High School graduate Kelsey Nuhfer repeated as a Capital One At-Large First-Team Academic All-American as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Nuhfer, a senior on the California University of Pa. swim team, made All-American status in each of her three years eligible for the award with a 3.99 cumulative grade point average while earning a degree in communication studies. She is the first three-time winner of the award in school history.
The Jamestown Jammers will be holding a luncheon featuring players and the coaching staff on Thursday, June 12 at the Jamestown Gateway Train Station. Players and coaches will be immersed throughout the event, providing fans with the opportunity to interact, eat lunch with the team, and celebrate the start of yet another season in Jamestown.
Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., and the event is expected to last until around 1 p.m. A train with the players and coaching staff will be arriving at the station around 12:05 p.m. Tickets for the event will be $12 and must be purchased in advance by calling the Jammers front office at (716)-664-0915.
The Jammers coaching staff this year features a vast amount of Major League Baseball playing experience. Brian Esposito will serve as Manager, Orlando Merced as Hitting Coach, Mark DiFelice as Pitching Coach, Dominic Cappozzo as Athletic Trainer, and Anthony Norman as Player Coach.
