The 2014-2015 budget for the Tidioute Community Charter School is now on the books.
At a June 11 meeting, the board of trustees approved the budget, which totals $3,973,447, a 15 percent increase, according to Chief Educational Officer Dr. Doug Allen.
Allen said the budget is comprised of funding from the four area school districts that have students at TCCS, federal Title I and Title II funding, IDEA revenue and U.S. federal food program revenue.
"The largest increases in expenditures from this year to next year are for employee retirement contributions to the state of Pennsylvania, salaries and employee medical insurance costs," said Allen. "Tidioute has students enrolled from Warren County, Forest County, Corry and Titusville school districts."
In addition to those increases, where medical costs jumped 35 percent, "We added a teacher to the budget from last year and are examining the need for an additional grade three class," Allen added. "We are reviewing that possibility."
The budget assumed enrollment stays around 300 students in K4-12 "as we averaged this year," said Allen.
At last week's meeting, Allen said the board of trustees also authorized the hiring of an architect, Bob Marz from Erie.
"We are enclosing the area underneath the TCCS library," Allen explained. "The total project will be about $10,000 with current plans. We are looking for additional classroom space for the future."
