Expect a day filled with live music, food, play areas, crafts, fairy tale story times and all kinds of fun at Audubon Community Nature Center’s Dragons and Fairies Festival, Saturday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Take a unicorn-drawn wagon ride and perhaps spot a little dragon.

Hidden dragon nests, a maze, unicorns, fairies, live music, great food, fairy tale story times and more surprises fill the trails at Audubon Community Nature Center’s Dragons and Fairies Festival.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17, and will transform the Audubon’s grounds into a mix of all things magical, designed to enchant visitors with the magic of being outside. Visitors can try their hand at child-safe archery, make a wizard staff, go on a dragon nest hunt, take a unicorn-drawn wagon ride, jump into a drum circle, make a wish on the wishing tree, hunt for garden gnomes, visit the unicorn petting area and so much more.

Adults and children alike are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes. At the fantasy photo booth, children can pose in some of Audubon’s costumes.

With its mix of harp, guitar and voices, Sixpence will play live Celtic and British folk music.

Don’t miss the fairy tale-rooted crafters, including glass blower Rick Selfridge of Tidioute, Pa., blacksmith Ron Johnson of Scandia, Pa., and spinning and weaving by Tiboult House and Miles Hilton.

The variety of vendors includes those with 3D printed dragon eggs and materials, art, food and more.

Festival visitors who become ACNC members will receive a free fairy wand.

The fee is $12 for adults, $9 for Nature Center members and children ages 3 to 15, and free for 2 and under. Parking is free. Some things cost extra; bringing cash makes transactions easier.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. Visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve, check in on the live birds of prey, view the native tree arboretum, gardens, picnic area, and natural play space, and hike the more than five miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free.

The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, winners of the 2022 Nature Photography Contest, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1-4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members.
