Dipson Theatres closes Chautauqua Mall location

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Dipson Theatres announced it has closed its Chautauqua Mall location effective immediately.

“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and patronage throughout the years,” Dipson said in a news release. “Your loyalty has meant the world to us, and we are truly grateful to have had the opportunity to serve you.”

The Chautauqua Mall location in Lakewood features two screens.

In its release, the company alluded to ongoing challenges and “circumstances beyond our control” as leading to the decision. Specifically, Dipson Theatres cited issues with a “leaky roof” within the theater at the Chautauqua Mall.

“We recognize that the leaky roof has been an inconvenience to you, our valued customers, and we deeply apologize for any discomfort it may have caused during your visits to our establishment,” Dipson said.

“Your support has meant so much to us, and we are genuinely sorry that we can no longer provide you with the quality service and experience that you deserve. Please know that this decision was not made lightly.”

The company invited patrons of the mall location to visit its Lakewood Cinema 8 location at171-3 Fairmont Ave.

Dipson Theatres, founded in 1939, owns and operates five other indoor theater locations and one drive-in in southwestern New York, including the Amherst Theatre and McKinley 6 Theatres in Buffalo, the Capitol Theatre in Niagara Falls, Flix Stadium 10 in Lancaster, Lakewood Cinema 8 and the Transit Drive-in in Lockport; as well as Warren Mall Cinemas at the Warren Mall in Warren, Pa.
