Youngsville Life: Library News

(a) Fiction & Fitness- Targeted ages 4-12 but all are welcome. Wednesday, July 3rd from 10 am – 11 am is the second day of this 5-part program series. Location is Yngs YMCA patio/pavilion (Island Park) rain or shine. Rain day meet under the Island Park pavilion. This is a partnership program between the Youngsville Library and Yngs YMCA. No registration required. Come and enjoy themed stories, corresponding fitness activity, a healthy snack, & a take-home craft each program date.Upcoming program dates: July 3rd – Cornhole theme; July 17th- shark theme; July 31st – softball theme; August 21st – soccer theme. (b) holiday hours – Youngsville library will be closed July 4th and Friday, July 5th in observance of the holiday. Regular business hours will resume on Monday, July 8th (10 am – 6 pm) . The Dropbox is open 24/7, as a patron courtesy to the holiday weekend, any items placed in the Dropbox before 10 am July 8th will be backdated to Wednesday, July 3rd.

(c) CANVA class- Wednesday, July 10th from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm there will be a Hi-Ed CANVA course offered at the Youngsville Library. This class is a Hi-Ed sponsored course therefore the class requires pre-registration and pre-payment through the Hi-Ed website. Cost for each Hi-Ed class is $29. CANVA is a great class to take for anyone who is in charge of making fliers and/or social media posts to promote fundraisers or other events for their church or organization. CANVA is a free graphic design platform – complete with countless prefabbed templates/fonts/images- that allows users to create professional looking social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents, fliers, and other visual content.

d) Appeal for Legos: Youngsville Library is interested in offering a “Lego Club” program for kids as soon as end of July. YPLibrary is appealing to the community for donations of their “gently-used but no longer played with” Legos to help the library with this new programming idea. Please drop off Lego donations during business hours (Mon & Wed 10 am – 6 pm, Tues 10 am – 2 pm, and Fri 11 am – 4 pm).

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

(a) Putt-Putt Fundraiser- The weekend of 12th -July 14th the “Warren County Fright Night” organization is having a “Christmas in July” Fundraising event at the North Warren Dairy Queen putt-putt course each day from open to close. Come and play putt-putt anytime July 12th-July 14th, the cost to play will benefit the Warren County Fright Night nonprofit and other charities that they work with too.

(b) Thursday Bingo: Weekly “Bar-Bingo” night is each Thursday at the Youngsville American Legion (10 N. Main St). Bingo starts at 6 pm, Kitchen opens at 5 pm. No smoking allowed at Youngsville American Legion from 5 pm – 9 pm on these weekly Bar-Bingo nights. Bar-bingo is a formal term for this weekly fundraising event and is not intended to imply that bingo participants are required to sit near or at the Legion bar area.

(c) Cruise-in @ Fairgrounds – Sunday, June 30th from 10 am -4 pm there is a Cruise-in at the Warren county Fairgrounds (371 Barton Run Road). Registration begins at 9 am, $10 fee. Classics, hot rods, motorcycles , jeeps, imports, pickups, tattoos, etc. Benefits the Warren County Fair Improvement Fund. Music, trophies, door prizes, grand prize drawing, also a craft show.
