LIBRARY NEWS
(a) Sensory story time: Visit YPL on Tuesday, August 27th from 10:30 am – 11:00 am for their monthly Sensory Story Time program. Target ages 3-12 developmentally, no registration necessary. Enjoy movement, manipulatives, music, and stories all while interacting with new friends. July’s Sensory Story time will be immediately followed by a visit from Gus the therapy dog.
(b) Puzzle Exchange: Love to complete puzzles? Would you like to try some new puzzles but don’t want to keep buying new ones? Yngs Public Library has the solution for you. YPLibrary has a FREE “Puzzle Exchange” program. Gently-used puzzles are located in the lobby of the library. Patrons are encouraged to stop in and take a puzzle or puzzles from the shelf to complete at home. You do not have to check out the puzzles and you don’t even have to return them, you can “pay them forward” to friends or family. You do not have to bring a puzzle in order to take a puzzle home.
If you happen to have any puzzles that you would like to donate to this program, just drop off the puzzles during our regular business hours. We only ask that the puzzles being donated have no missing pieces and are in good condition (not musty or dirty, no broken boxes etc.). YPLibrary is open Mon & Wed 10 am – 6 pm, Tuesday 10 am – 3 pm, and Friday 11 am – 4 pm.
(c) Library Book “Sale”: Save the Date: Saturday, September 7th from 10 am – 4pm is Youngsville Library’s Annual One-Day Fall Book “Sale” (100 Broad Street). Hot dogs and drinks will be available from 11 am until sold out. For a $5.00 donation you will receive a hot dog, beverage, bag of chips, and a homemade dessert. There will even be homemade Texas hot sauce for the dogs, while supplies last of course. Book “sale” items include a variety of “gently used” books, and DVDs for all ages. There will also be a Large Print, Christian Fiction, and kids/youth section to make perusing easier.
The majority of the Book Sale will be held indoors this year and there will be an area to sit down and enjoy a hot dog on site. All proceeds from this annual fall fundraiser directly benefit the Youngsville Public Library. There will also be a free raffle opportunity to win a $50 Amazon Gift card. On September 7th, be sure to bring your library card (and photo ID) with you. Stop in at the circulation desk and while you’re browsing through the book sale items, we’ll confirm or update your patron information and you’ll receive a free chance at a $50 amazon gift card (two winners drawn). The amazon gift card opportunity is through September 13th. If you don’t have a library card or it is missing/lost no worries. Just bring your photo ID and you can register for a new patron card. It only takes a few minutes to register and you can receive a free Amazon Gift Card chance too. Remember that during the book “sale” on Saturday, the library will be open for “regular patron services” such as public computer use, free wi-fi, and checkout of physical materials.
