Boy Scout fundraiser

A sporting clay shoot fundraiser was held for the Chief Cornplanter Council at the Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club on Sept. 14. The event raised over $3,000. A total of 34 shooters participated. Joel Stewart finished in first with Dave Pallock and Ed Acklin in second and third, respectively.

Anders Run walk

The Northwest Pennsylvania Woodland Association is sponsoring a Walk in Penn’s Woods for exploration of Anders Run Natural Area outside of Irvine. DCNR Foresters will lead the walk. They’ll point out the old growth pine and hemlock trees and discuss the insects and diseases attacking these trees. The program is scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 983 Dunns Eddy Rd. Signs to the parking area will be posted on the local roads. All are welcome and admission is free.

Fairground storage

The Warren County Fairgrounds in Pittsfield will have winter storage available on a first come, first served basis, starting Saturdays Oct. 12 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair will be accepting campers, boats, cars, etc. There is limited availability to accommodate tall campers. There will be a new line up to enter the Barton Run gate. For more information, call (814) 730-6401 or (814) 730-8488. All proceeds benefit the Warren County Fair improvement fund.
