4 Paws 4 Veterans dinner

A “4 Paws 4 Veterans Day Dinner” will be held on Nov. 11 at the Warren Eagles Club, 2101 Pennsylvania Ave. E. A Thanksgiving dinner will be prepared and there is no cost. Seating times are available at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Those veterans interested are asked to make a reservation by calling (814) 726-1620 or by email at newhopedogs@yahoo.com.

Hurricane relief

New Hope Assistance Dogs is spearheading a Hurricane Drive to support the communities of Western North Carolina affected by recent storms. Those asking to donate essential items are asked to bring those items to the Warren County Fairgrounds from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sat. The truck will leave Oct. 31.

Memorial Service

Hospice of Warren County is holding its annual Memorial Service on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Ave. E. This non-denominational service celebrates the lives of our loved ones who have passed. Anyone who would like the name of a loved one to be read aloud during the service is asked to call the Hospice office at (814) 723-2455 by Tuesday, Oct. 28.

‘Going Solo’ grief workshops

The Schorman Center at Hospice of Warren County is offering a series of grief workshops called Going Solo every Tuesday in November. The workshops focus on everyday living and activities for those who have lost a loved one. Registration is required by Nov. 4 to Jodi Bevevino at (814) 723-8060. The cost for each workshop is $5. Sessions include Car Maintenance and Repair at Midtown Motors at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5; Art for Wellness at 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church on Nov. 12; Minor Home Repair on Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church and a scam program on Nov. 26 at 4 p.m. at First Lutheran.

Berea Lutheran

Church sets fall festival

Berea Lutheran Church will host a fall festival from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, with treats, donuts and cider. The event is safe for all ages and child-friendly. The public is welcome to attend. Costumes are options. The church is located at the intersection of routes 6 and 958 in Pittsfield.

Caregiver Support

Group meets Monday

A regularly scheduled Caregivers Support Group meeting will be held on Monday at noon at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren. Enter the building via the elevator entrance and proceed to the Wesley Parlor. All caregivers (men and women) and anyone interested in Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementia-related diseases are welcome to attend. A time of sharing concerns, behavior issues, etc., is always part of the meeting. Handouts are provided by the Alzheimer’s Association and are available for those attending and their families. This meeting provides a safe and confidential place to share any questions from caregivers, as well as to learn of current information, such as classes and events held locally.
