The Warren Area Student Union adds element to haunted house
The Warren Area Student Union successfully hosted its annual haunted house. In its 25th year, the event is student run.
The haunted house was hosted over three weekends in the month of October, offering Halloween entertainment for the community.
This year, WASU held a special event that allowed community members to experience the event without the chills and thrills. “My grandson, Brandon, who is notably sensitive to loud noises but has a fondness for Halloween, had the chance to explore the various lights and decorations of the haunted house through a special tour. Observing his joy led us to conclude that other students would also appreciate this opportunity,” said WASU Director Pam Falber.
On Oct. 30, WASU organized a special sensory-friendly session to provide a welcoming experience for guests sensitive to sensory overload. During this session, participants had the chance to enjoy the attraction in a way specifically designed to minimize discomfort. The atmosphere was adjusted to eliminate loud sounds, frightening visual elements, and the use of strobe lights, creating a safe space for those with sensory sensitivities. The positive feedback from attendees highlighted the importance of such initiatives.
WASU announces that they plan to continue offering this valuable feature in the coming years, ensuring an inclusive experience for all.
