Deerfield Behavioral Health welcomes four new providers

Deerfield Behavioral Health of Warren has added the following psychiatric medical providers to its team: Dr. Joshua Halbauer, Dr. Vikram Panwar, Dr. Joseph Sivak and Abby Wenzel, CRNP.

“We are thrilled about the addition of these highly-skilled, psychiatric care providers joining our team as they are very well equipped to offer comprehensive mental and behavioral health services to our consumers across the lifespan,” said Dr. Kim M. Thurston, Deerfield Behavioral Health’s executive director.

Halbauer brings more than 26 years of experience as a psychiatrist. He graduated in 1999 from the University of Pecs located in Hungary, followed by a residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. Halbauer completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Southern California and Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry and a research fellowship regarding traumatic brain injury and Alzheimer’s disease at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, California.

Panwar holds a Master of Public Health degree from University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College – University of Delhi in India, followed by the completion of a general psychiatry residency at the University of Kansas in Kansas City in 2019. Panwar also served as Chief Resident at the University of Kansas in 2018-2019.

Sivak, a board-certified psychiatrist, graduated from medical school in 1988 from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has over 37 years of experience. He completed residencies in internal medicine and family practice at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio and St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pennsylvania, respectively. Sivak also did a residency in psychiatry at University of Rochester and Strong Memorial Hospital located in Rochester, New York. His specialties include neurology, psychiatry and addiction medicine.

Wenzel is an adult psychiatric nurse practitioner who graduated in 2007 from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh. She has over 17 years of experience, mostly working in outpatient psychiatry. Wenzel works with clients ages 14 and older, and most enjoys a collaborative, holistic approach with clients wanting to work through psychosocial, medical, and lifestyle improvements to optimize their health and specifically their mental health.

Their psychiatrists and nursing professionals serve individuals of all ages across the continuum of mental and behavioral health care, both within the affiliate organizations of JHS, and on a contracted basis outside of the affiliation in a diverse range of settings including outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, psychiatric residential treatment facilities, crisis stabilization units, inpatient hospital units and substance abuse or dual diagnosis treatment centers.
