Company Townes recently took the stage with another country music superstar.

Earlier this month the Warren-based band performed alongside Country Music Hall of Famer Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives. The 1,600-seat venue welcomed the four-piece band–Jody Aiello, Sara Aiello, Eric Morelli, and Nate Blick–for their second performance with Stuart and his celebrated group.

“It was an honor to revisit AMT! We had such a positive experience there last year supporting Dwight Yoakam,” the band shared on its Facebook page.

Their 35-minute set featured original music along with a rendition of the classic country tune, Truck Driving Man.

“Marty Stuart is a great advocate for country music and works to keep its history alive, so the song was included in that spirit,” the band said.

In true country fashion, Company Townes brought a little extra sparkle to the night by debuting custom-made H Bar C western suits–an iconic brand worn by legends like Elvis Presley, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Salvador Dali, John Wayne and Jack White.

“We love our homemade rhinestone suits, but the new ones really do look sharp,” the band noted, adding that the decision to upgrade was inspired by standing backstage beside Stuart’s band at Struthers Library Theatre last November.

The group spoke warmly of their experience with Marty Stuart and his crew.

“Marty, his band, and their entire crew are true southern gentlemen. They were kind and welcoming. We weren’t ready for the night to end when they hopped back on their bus at midnight to make the long drive back to Nashville. It’s an evening we’ll never forget,” the band said in its post.

A standout moment came during Stuart’s set, when he dedicated a solo performance of Orange Blossom Special to Company Townes, using the very mandolin he played as a young musician in Lester Flatt’s band. The instrument, rich with country music history, bears the carved initials of figures such as Stephen King, President Clinton, Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, Quincy Jones and Johnny Cash.

“On our drive home, we flipped on 97.5 The Hound, and there was Johnny Cash, Marty’s old boss, singing the Orange Blossom Special,” the band recalled. “Pretty cool cap to an amazing experience.”
