A Sugar Grove man who has been charged with a felony burglary charge was not jailed for the incident.

Bail was set at $25,000 in the case involving Stephan Younger, 61, after he was charged earlier this month, but he was not jailed as the Times Observer repor ted earlier this month.

Younger, 61, was charged with first-degree felony burglary, third-degree felony theft by unlawful taking, third-degree felony firearms not to be carried without a license and third-degree felony criminal trespassing on Wednesday by the State Police at Corry. Younger was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Todd Woodin.

State troopers responded to a Freehold Township farm for a report of a burglary on March 20. Troopers interviewed the property owner in a wooden outbuilding used to milk goats at 8:15 a.m. March 20 and saw his .22 caliber revolver and a box of .22 caliber bullets located on top of a feed barrel. The man’s wife moved the firearm and ammunition to a lawn chair next to the feed barrel before the couple went back inside their home at 8:45 a.m. When they came back out to the building at 7:15 p.m. they found the weapon was missing.

Troopers investigated the theft and, through a canvass of the neighborhood, allegedly identified Younger as a potential suspect. They interviewed Younger on Wednesday at the State Police at Corry barracks.

“Younger further confessed to taking the loaded Harrington & Richardson model 939 .22 caliber revolver from the outbuilding and transporting it to his residence,” the Affidavit of Probable Cause states. “Younger made no attempts to return the firearm to the victim.”
