Jackson Run Road gravel pit on Zoning Board agenda Wednesday

A proposed surface mining project, known as the Jackson Run Pit, is under consideration for development on Jackson Run Road, between Creamery and Miller Hill Roads. The project is planned by Allegheny Aggregate, Inc. on property owned by Phillip and Rebecca Hampson.

The project requires a special exception, which will be determined by a hearing board after a public meeting. This meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ office.

During this session, the board will review the proposal and hear feedback from the community before making a final decision.

The Warren County zoning office has contacted a dozen property owners surrounding the proposed site to encourage their input on the project. Several of these individuals have already called the zoning office to discuss the proposal, highlighting the active role of the community in this process.

According to Warren County zoning officer Ben Mahaffey, the project has followed the necessary regulatory procedures.

“He (Hampson) is a local guy, is the owner of the land for the proposed gravel pit, and has gone through the proper channels including approval from the DEP,” Mahaffey stated.

Starting at $2.99/week.
