Sheffield UMC Christmas Bake Sale

The Sheffield UMC will hold its Christmas Bake Sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be small samples of some goodies, along with coffee, as well as some Christmas decorations for sale.

Sheffield Library

The Sheffield Library is located at 20 Leather Street where the township offices are. A large assortment of new books and videos are available. Popular authors include James Paatterson, Catherine Coulter, Nora Roberts and Danielle Steele, just to name a few. Books may be checked out for two weeks, and videos for three days.

If there is a book that the library doesn’t have, you may get it through the Interlibrary Loan System.

There is always a book sale going on in the foyer for you to add to your personal library.

Also available: Copy machine (20 cents a copy); fax machine ($1 charge); and free internet on three computers.

Hours are: Monday, 6 to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday, 2 to 8 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 1 to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Christmas in the Village

The Sheffield Lions Club will once again be hosting Christmas in the Village at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Bring your kids to see Santa, have some cookies and then take a ride in the horse drawn carriage all around town to see all the Christmas lights.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., visit with Santa at the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department.

Santa Arrives at SVFD

The Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Breakfast with Santa is a week away. On Dec. 9, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., come join Santa for breakfast. Santa arrives around 9 a.m.

Open Doors Ministry

The next dinner of the Sheffield-Barnes Larger Parish Open Doors Ministry Dinner. The meal will be chili, cornbread and brownies, and will be served free of charge starting at 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. Takeouts are available.

Hospitality Center

This Center provides year-round recreational fitness and educational opportunities. You are invited to enjoy games puzzles, educational/ instructional classes, and special events or just stop by and socialize.

Additional Center Services: Knitting for Beginners- learn all the basics. Whether you’re an absolute novice or want to refresh some rusty skills, this beginner class will get you going. Three exciting and useful projects will build your knitting skills over time, adding new techniques along the way. You’ll make a basic scarf a ribbed scarf and a stripped hat in the round. You will become familiar with the language of knitting patterns and gain confidence to seek out new knitting projects on your own. Class starts in December and will run for eight weeks. No cost for the class you can bring your own supplies or buy the basic kit for $35. Call 968-5667 to sign up.
