LIBRARY NEWS

(a) Story Time: Youngsville Library’s monthly Preschool Story Time is Tuesday, October 8th from 10:30 -11:00 am. No pre-registration required. Stop by and enjoy stories, music, movement and much more! Targeted ages are 3-6 but all are welcome.

(b) YPL Book Club: YPLibrary’s monthly Book Club “Between the Spines” will be meeting on Tuesday, October 8th from 3:00 – 4:00 pm. The book being discussed in October is: “Know My Name” by Chanel Miller. November’s discussion book with be “The Red Tent” by Anita Diamant. Ideas for titles and author’s to read for the 2025 Book Club Program will also be discussed. If you’re interested in joining YPL’s casual and friendly group of book lovers, please stop by!

BOROUGH NEWS

(1) Drug Take-Back: Save the Date: Saturday, October 26th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Youngsville Borough Police Department there will be a “DEA TakeBack” opportunity. Participants may dispose of medication in its original container or by removing the mediation from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box. If and original container is submitted, the individual is encouraged to remove any identifying information from the prescription label. Intra-venous solutions, injectables, and syringes WILL NOT be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens. This program is anonymous and all efforts are made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. Illicit substances are not a part of this initiative. (2) Community Service Award: In the past, Yngs Borough Council recognized an individual who has demonstrated outstanding public service with the Community Service Award. We are once again accepting nominations for this award. Nominations must be received by no later than October 31st.

Nominations shall be based on the following criteria: (1) Candidate lives in Youngsville Borough or within a 10-mile radius, (2) Contribution to the community is over and above his or her professional duties, and (3) Service is on a voluntary basis. Please submit nominations, including a paragraph or two explaining how this nominee has shown outstanding public service in our community, to : Youngsville Borough, 40 Railroad Street, Youngsville, PA 16371 or wwilcox@youngsvilleboro.org.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

(a) Antique Gun Display: Saturday, October 12th from 1:00 – 5:00 pm, there will be an Antique Gun Display (with Brad Bogart) at the Wilder Museum of Warren County History (51 Erie Ave., Irvine). For more information call 814-723-1795 or visit www.warrenhistory.org.

(b) Craft Show: Youngsville VFD is holding a Craft Show on Saturday, November 23, from 10 am – 3 pm. Adult Admission is $3.00, Children 12 and under are free. There will be a Chinese Auction – $5 for a sheet of 25 tickets. Food will be available for purchase in the kitchen. Multiple vendors with a wide-variety of items will be present.

(e) Thursday Bingo: Weekly “Bar-Bingo” night is each Thursday at the Youngsville American Legion (10 N. Main St). Bingo starts at 6 pm, Kitchen now opens at 4:30 pm on Thursdays. No smoking allowed at Youngsville American Legion from 5 pm – 9 pm on these weekly Bar-Bingo nights. Bar-bingo is a formal term for this weekly fundraising event and is not intended to imply that bingo participants are required to sit near or at the Legion bar area.

(f) Haunted Trolley Rides: Warren County Historical Society’s Haunted House and Trolley Tours will be Friday & Saturday, October 25 & 26 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm (210 Fourth Avenue, Warren). Trolley Ride & Haunted House Tour combo ticket is $11 per person advance or $13 at the door. Haunted House Tour only is $5 per person.

(h) Free Community Meals: The Free, Weekly Community Meals has resumed at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis Street). These Free Community meals are Wednesdays from 5:00 – 6:00 pm and open to the public All are welcome!

(j) Halloween Event at YFMC: Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis St) will be having it’s annual Free Family Friendly Harvest Party on Thursday, October 31st from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. There will be games, prizes, candy, and lots of family-friendly fun. Come in costume and get some tasty treats. All are welcome!
