As local PennDOT plow trucks clear snow this season, local art is leading the way.
There were seven entries from schools in Warren and Forest counties in PennDOT’s Paint the Plow contest this year — East Forest, Eisenhower, Sheffield, Tidioute Community, Warren Area, West Forest, and Youngsville.
Those plows are in use in the communities surrounding the schools.
PennDOT is welcoming visitors to its Facebook page to vote for their favorites.
“Paint the Plow is a statewide outreach aimed at promoting winter driving safety and fostering appreciation for high school art programs,” PennDOT Spokesperson Jill Harry said. “Earlier this year, PennDOT invited high school students in Warren and Forest counties to paint plow blades based on the regional theme ‘Winter Wonderland.'”
“Members of the public can vote for their favorite plow through the PennDOT Facebook page (@PennsylvaniaDepartmentofTransportation),” Harry said. “Pictures of each plow are posted online in the 2018 Paint the Plow – Warren-Forest Counties photo album. The plow photo that receives the most reactions between November 29, 2018 and noon, December 6, 2018 will be deemed the ‘Fan Favorite.’ Each reaction — regardless of whether it is a like, love, haha, wow, sad, angry — will count as one vote.
PennDOT employees will determine which plow wins ‘judges’ pick.’
