A number of artists in Warren County are part of a fundraiser for the Barber National Institute.

It’s the Jay & Mona Kang Virtual Art Show and Sale and it opened Monday.

It will run through April 22 and can be found at www.barberartshow.org. Over 275 pieces are featured.

The show began in 2006 and went virtual for the first time in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have tried to take what our visitors have loved about the show, which is the wide variety of artwork from artists in the region, and make it widely available during this time when we are asked to avoid large gatherings of people,” Laura Schaaf, director of Giving at the Barber National Institute, said.

“As we look for new ways to socially connect as a community, we see how art offers us all a way to do that,” she continued. “The way that it enriches our lives can bring us together while we may physically be apart.”

The Warren YMCA Firefly Art group submitted a piece entitled “Tree of Seasons,” collaborating on the acrylic painting.

Other artists from Warren Karen Heltzel with the photographs “Rebirth of the Coupe” and “669-BRU;” Michelle Munksgard with two oil paintings, “Pride and Power,” and “In The Wild” and John Pearson with a paper collage, “Valentine,” and a painting, “Water and Sky.”

Artists also include Marian Aranyos with collages of dyed tissue and recycled materials, “Egret” and “Eagle in Flight,” and Jacque Caringola with the photographs “Liftoff” and “Winter -Chapman Dam.”

Jessica Porter created two works in fiber, “The Torch” and “Wonders of the Earth through the Wing of a Dragon.”

Diane DeLarme from Clarendon is also exhibiting two pieces in mixed media, “Blue is my World” and “Ready for the Runway.”

Two students in Warren County — both at St. Joseph School — are also featured.

Daylyn Munksgard, a first-grader, has the oil painting “Emma and Rose,” and Boe Hendricks, a 4th grade student, has the oil painting “Jumping Off Ice.”

The online galleries include photos of all of the artwork with the dimensions of every piece, according to Mary Cuneo, Barber’s communications director. Viewers can select pieces to add to their online cart and make their purchase through a secure check out site. Buyers will be notified of the date and time that they can get their purchased pieces in a “curbside pick up” that will be held at the Barber National Institute, or they can arrange for mailing through Pony Express.

Artists will receive a commission from the sale, though some have chosen to donate to the Institute.

“The support from the community is especially important to us as we continue serving our vulnerable populations at this challenging time,” Schaaf said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
