Santa makes stop in Sugar Grove
The downtown Sugar Grove community welcomed Santa Claus for a visit during his busy season.
St. Nick was escorted to the Town Park at 5 p.m. Friday for “It’s a Sugar Grove Christmas” by the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department to meet with children.
Joining Santa were the Grinch and his dog Max, and Cindy Lou Who, whose expenses were covered by AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary.
Whether they visited with Santa or not, children could pick a prize from the gift tree at Sugar Grove Laundromat.
Young and old were welcome on the Bill Gourley Memorial Hayride.
The burn barrels at Wilcox Brothers helped keep the crowd warm for the fireworks display.
The sounds of the season joined the sights, as Wilcox also hosted the The Misfits Christian singing group and Mission Covenant Church.
There was a living window manger scene by the Free Methodist Church at the Outpost.
“The United Methodist and Presbyterian churches were truly in the ‘Reason for the Season’ with their beautiful Christmas decorations,” Judy Fry of AMVETS said.
The Sugar Grove Library and the Volunteer Fire Department welcomed visitors to make crafts, read books, and for snacks and drinks.
AMVETS Post 50 served hot dogs.
There was a gift card drawing at New Beginnings, food and drink with free drawings at the Beer Bank and Schuyler’s.
The Bucket assisted those who wanted to send Letters to Santa. Kwik Fill had cookies and hot chocolate.
The Warren County Dairy Princess was accepting visitors at D&L Enos Milling.
“It was so much fun and the weather was perfect,” Fry said.
