The necessary permits have been acquired through the City of Warren and a crew began working Monday.

The top of the steeple at the 100 W. Third Ave. property was the most noticeable change this week. The crew began the process of taking down the steeple and chimneys — dropping debris into roll-offs below.

Demolition of the old East Street School at 100 W. Third St., Warren, began this week.

The structure has been the subject of discussion at the city Blighted Property Review Committee and Redevelopment Authority for years. It was declared a blighted property in October of 2019.
