Dell recognized for ‘exceptional’ work at hospital
There are many different roles to play to make a hospital operate smoothly.
On Friday, Warren General Hospital recognized Dominic Dell, Dietary Aide/Cook, as its sixth Being Exceptional Every day (BEE) award winner.
Dell was nominated by the entire maternity unit nursing staff.
“We BEElieve Dominic demonstrates a commitment to the core values at Warren General,” the maternity unit nurses wrote in the nomination. “Specific to the collaborative part of the core values and being part of one engaged team, Dominic takes the time to stop during his busy work, listen to the concerns of our staff, and assist in any way possible to resolve whatever the matter at hand may be for our patients.”
“He oftentimes will go one step further on his way out the door and ask if we or any patients need anything else before leaving,” they wrote. “Dominic is a member of our team and his actions, as stated above, prove his desire to be a part of our team. As to the compassion part of the core values, Dominic emanates compassion from every part of their being.”
“He always treats patients and staff with kindness and kind words, ‘can I do anything else for you?’ ‘how are you today?’ always uses please and thank you, and ‘have a good day,'” the nurses wrote. “His good-natured and forever smile always brightens our day and our patients’. This happiness rubs off on everyone he is around.”
“With the recent changes to our food service, Dominic will work through issues with the new service and when he says they will take care of something, we can count on it being done every time,” the nurses wrote in the nomination. “We have always felt he is respectful when speaking to nurses and patients and always speaks kindly of their co-workers.”
“The BEE (Being Exceptional Everyday) award was developed to honor any hospital employee who is not a licensed nurse here at Warren General Hospital,” according to a release from Director of Marketing and Business Development George Lilja.
“It is important our employees know their work is highly valued, and the BEE Program provides a way for us to do that,” CEO Rick Allen said.
“We are proud to recognize our exceptional healthcare workers,” Chief Nursing Officer Joe Akif said. “They are everyday heroes, and it’s important that they know their work is highly valued. The BEE Award provides a way for us to do that.”
Employees may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at Warren General Hospital. Awards are presented throughout the year at celebrations attended by the honoree’s colleagues, patients, and visitors.
Each Honoree receives a certificate commending her or him for Being Exceptional Every day. Honorees also receive a BEE Award pin, a gift card at the hospital’s Window Box gift shop, four free lunches at the cafeteria, eight-hour awards day off and a beautiful, very rare crystal called the Bumble Bee Jasper, found at Mount Papandayan in Indonesia.
“Congratulations Dominic, Warren General Hospital is honored to have an exceptional employee like you working here.”
