Hinton to seek Republican nod for sheriff

Ken Hinton
Ken Hinton has announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination to serve as Warren County sheriff.
“Many people have asked me: Why do you want to run for sheriff?” Hinton said. “The answer is simple. It is in my blood to serve! I would love nothing more than to continue to serve the people of Warren County as their Sheriff.”
Hinton was born and raised in Ridgway but has been a county resident since 1995.
After 4.5 years in the Air Force after high school, he embarked on a 28-year career in law enforcement, 21 of which was spent serving with the City of Warren Police Department where he rose to the rank of sergeant, serving in a leadership role in the state’s regional Drug Task Force and as the Fraternal Order of Police president for 10 years.
Since that time, he spent four years as a city code enforcement officer and currently works as a fraud analyst at Northwest Bank.
If elected sheriff, Hinton said he would seek to build a “better working relationship” with other county agencies, “improve and/or expand” the school resource officer program as well as Second Amendment protection.
“With my experience working in fraud, I will push to protect not only our community but most importantly our senior citizens from fraud scams by bringing awareness and highlighting ways they can protect themselves,” he added.
“With my experience as a soldier and police officer and my wholehearted passion, I believe I would be a great leader,” he added. “I hope to gain your support through this process. I want to remind you that I am here to fight for everyone within Warren County.”
