Leaf pickup programs start next week
With fall comes falling leaves.
That means it’s time for leaf collection programs to kick off in the county.
And the guidelines for taking advantage of that vary depending on where you live.
Pickup starts Monday in both the City of Warren and Youngsville Borough.
“Crews will be collecting throughout the city on a daily basis, concentrating on areas of most need,” the city said in a statement. “Residents are reminded that piled-leaves will be picked up by the City’s leaf vacuum machines, and the bagged-leaves will be collected by a separate truck,” the city said. “Leaves should be placed on the lawn/curb area and not in the street.”
This is a leaf pickup only so city residents are asked not to mix limbs or other yard waste into the leaves.
“The city will continue to collect leaves until completed or until weather permits,” they say.
The schedule for pickup in Youngsville Borough is much more detailed.
Here’s the schedule by borough street: Monday – Railroad, E. Main, Davis, College, Orchard, Oak, Church; Tuesday – Woodward, Poplar, Ford, IOOF, Marsh, Bates, Pleasant; Wednesday – Brown Hill, Water, Mill, Highland, Second, W. Main, Old Pittsfield, High, Broad, Beckenwood, Sonia; Thursday – 3rd through 9th streets. Dillon, Division, N. Main, Yucha, McGraw, Spring, Hillside, Laverne; Friday – Areas not completed on assigned days.
“Please rake leaves to the curb,” a borough notice says. “Do not rake into the street. Please, no stones. Bundle sticks and branches and pile separately.”
Pickup in Conewango Township will start a week later, Oct. 23, and run through Nov. 22.
“Please have your piles to the edge of your yard,” the township posted on Facebook. “No twigs or sticks. Do not rake leaves into the streets.”
