A Warren man pleaded guilty to the possession of over 1.75 pounds of cocaine and neglect of animals in Warren County Court on Thursday.

Gregory L. Berry, 35, Warren, entered the plea before President Judge Maureen Skerda.

The charges stemmed from a raid conducted by the Warren County Drug Task Force at a Dahl Street residence back in October.

The street value of what was seized was estimated in excess of $65,000 and the raid was the result of an eight-month-long investigation.

The Warren County Drug Task Force conducted the search in conjunction with the county District Attorney’s office, Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigations and Drug Control and federal Homeland Security Investigations personnel.

Investigators allege in the affidavit of probable cause that Berry was questioned and was “very forthcoming about all of the items located in the home stating that they were his.”

He allegedly confirmed “that he was selling the cocaine from the home and he considered that his employment.”

Animal cruelty charges were added in the wake of the arrest.

Three French Bulldogs were seized from the residence and investigators told the Times Observer that the dogs had been living in “deplorable conditions.” They were surrendered to the Paws Along The River Humane Society.

The affidavit alleges that one of the dogs was “found to be underfed and had open sores” and that “feces and urine were located on the floors in all rooms of the house.”

During Thursday’s proceeding, First Assistant District Attorney Cody Brown said he would be asking for $1,318.95 in restitution for the care provided to the dogs at the humane society.

In exchange for the plea, charges of possession of a controlled substance, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and a count of aggravated cruelty to animals were not prosecuted.

Starting at $2.99/week.
