Career Center students celebrated for program completion on Thursday

Graduation is a few weeks out but over 90 students completing their programs at the Warren County Career Center were celebrated recently.

The event was held at the Warren Area High School auditorium and included a “signing night” event for those students headed directly into the county’s workforce.

“We wanted to highlight and congratulate the group on being hired into our workforce,” Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry Senior Vice President John Papalia, who was the guest speaker for the event, said. “The skills they learned at the Career Center and through Co-Op opportunities allowed them to take this step.”

Papalia said it’s important to highlight the students headed into the workforce because “of how diverse the economy is.”

“To succeed we need a diversity of skill sets, and the students that graduated last night have developed skills that allow them to be job ready, or closer to job ready,” he explained. “Some of them are going directly to the workforce, some are going to two-year or four-year schools to continue their education, but all of them have learned so much that will help them in the future.

He said a total of 98 students graduated from the 14 programs at the Career Center.

“The very bright and talented students who graduate from the Career Center will help shape our community now, and in the future,” he said. “They deserve all the recognition they received for their accomplishments.”
