County in early stages of wind energy regulations

County planning staff are in the early stages of looking at regulations for wind energy development.

Planning Director Michael Lyon told the Warren County Planning Commission that it’s an issue on their radar.

That’s because the county was “approached by someone considering a wind farm in the northern part of the county.”

Lyon noted that the proposal is “probably four years off” if it even comes to fruition.

But, as proposed, it would include Sugar Grove, Freehold and Columbus townships.

On the solar side, Lyon said the county continues to receive a “lot of phone calls” about what’s required.

GOAT TALKS TABLED

Discussion on the issue of modifying setbacks or instituting an emotional support animal ordinance was tabled Tuesday.

Lyon said that Solicitor Nathaniel Schmidt has yet to meet with the commissioners on the issue.

“We need to get a feel for what they’re going to approve,” Lyon said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
