A 2024 Warren Area High School graduate has completed Cadet Basic Training at West Point.
Samuel Harvey, son of Samuel and Rachel Harvey, entered the U.S. Military Academy on July 1 and has wrapped up the six weeks of CBT, one of the most challenging events a cadet can expect to experience at West Point.
The initial military training program provides cadets with basic skills to instill discipline, pride, cohesion, confidence and a high sense of duty to prepare them for entry into the Corps of Cadets.
Areas of summer instruction included first aid, mountaineering, hand grenades, rifle marksmanship and nuclear, biological, and chemical training.
Congressman Glenn Thompson has announced Harvey’s fully qualified appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point back in May.
“Samuel has been a leader in the classroom, on the football field, and in the community. His passion for service to others and a determination to succeed will serve him well at the United States Military Academy,” Thompson said.
“I wish Samuel all the best as he begins a new chapter at West Point.”
