Youngsville Borough Council has a new member.

Sharey Sveda was sworn-in Monday to a seat on council during Monday’s meeting.

She’ll complete the term of Todd Lake, which will run through 2026.

Council also set the date for trick-and-treat and heard about emergency medical services concerns and improvement in the police ticketing process.

Halloween this year falls on Oct. 31, a Thursday. Trick-or-Treat will be held in the borough that evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Councilmember Troy Clawson said data presented at a recent EMS commission meeting shows that “Youngsville ambulance was available for two calls and missed two calls.”

He said there may be a need to dig into the data to determine “what is the reason and what can we do to help.”

Police Chief Todd Mineweaser said that the department received grant dollars to implement new technology to enhance the process for writing citations.

He told council the equipment will both save time and result in fewer errors.

“The only thing we had to pay for was the printer in the cars,” he added.

Starting at $2.99/week.
