WCVB details promotion efforts at meeting
Promoting tourism in Warren County requires multiple approaches.
That was evidenced during last week’s Warren County Visitors Bureau board meeting.
A key piece of the puzzle? Advocacy.
Executive Director Casey Ferry said that she had the opportunity to have lunch with Nathan Reigner, the state’s director of outdoor recreation, after the Trail of the Year ceremony at Jakes Rocks.
Ferry said he was asking about how counties plan and what can be done to help.
“It was awesome,” she said. “He asked about Kinzua Beach. That was a big topic. He was interested in the marine that was there.
“To have him know our faces now is big. That was an awesome opportunity.”
Other pieces of the puzzle are providing resources to tourists.
And that took the form of the WCVB agreeing to participate in the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s fishing tackle loaner program.
“They’ll send us poles, tackle boxes,” Ferry said. “It’s like a library. The only other one is Chapman State Park. (We) would really like to have it before the fishing tournament.
“It’s another thing to bring people in and do a service for the community.”
