‘Proud moment’: Marching band season coming to an end
The band won its third consecutive state championship in the Group 1 Open division at the Pennsylvania State Championships for bands in Altoona. Eisenhower competed in Open Group 1A and took home a fifth place finish, missing out on second place by less than one point.
The Youngsville Marching Eagles earned a first-place score of 94.0 and were named state champions in the Group 1 Open. The band also received outstanding visual, music, auxiliary, and percussion awards.
Youngsville band director Cindy Scheid said, “It was a very proud moment.”
“The kids were so excited that we achieved a score of 94,” said Scheid.
The Marching Eagles will compete one last time on the field this season at the Atlantic Coast Championships in Hershey on Saturday and Sunday. The Atlantic Coast Championship will be at Hershey Stadium, with bands from nine states competing. The Eagles go into the weekend ranked fifth.
The band will have its Halftime Review and Awards show on November 7, at 7 p.m.
The Eisenhower Knights Marching Band concluded its 2024 competitive season with a fifth place finish in Group 1A, which had nine teams, at the Pennsylvania State Championships.
In its division, less than 1 point separated 5th place Eisenhower (88.45) and the second place finisher, Southern Tioga (89.41).
“We teach continual improvement and are extremely proud that our score increased by over 4.5 points at states from the week prior,” said Jennifer Hale, the Marching Knights assistant director.
The band invites the public to its annual Halftime review and Awards concert, which will be held at 7 p.m. today in Eisenhower’s auditorium.
