City man faces felony charges after domestic incident
A Warren man faces felony charges after an incident Sunday in the city.
Damian Brown, 31, of Warren was charged with strangulation – applying pressure to throat or neck, a class 1 felony; aggravated assault – attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon, a class 2 felony; misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats with intent to injure another and simple assault, and a charge of harassment. Charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Raymond Zyronik on Wednesday by Warren City Police.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by city police, Brown was involved in a domestic dispute with a woman during a custody exchange of their children when Brown allwegedly became upset while speaking to a third person on his cell phone. Before he “brandished a knife while waving it around stating, ‘I’m going to kill you and the kids.’
The woman told police Brown pushed her to the ground in the woman’s bathroom and placed his hands around her neck, with the woman losing consciousness.
“When the victim was being interviewed by police, there were multiple noticeable red marks around the victim’s neck and throat area,” the affidavit states. “The defendant did also bite the victim’s face in the cheek area.”
City police also filed charges Thursday against a Warren woman who faces a felony charge. Tiffany N. Christenson, 37, of Warren, after she allegedly tried to sneak contraband illegal opioids into the Warren County Jail and asked an 11-year-old to take a drug test for her. Christenson is charged with contraband/controlled substance, a class 2 felony, corruption of minors, furnishing drug-free urine – use or attempt and intentional possession of a controlled substance. Charges were filed Thursday and bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, an officer spoke with a parent at the Warren Police Department on Oct. 15 who said that on Oct. 11 Christenson allegedly asked their daughter to urinate in a cup for a drug screening at Christenson’s home in Warren. Between Oct. 11 and Oct. 15, Christenson had allegedly been taken to the county jail on a probation violation.
On Oct. 16, Adult Probation provided Warren police officers with a Visene bottle containing ‘urine’ on Christenson. Christenson was also allegedly found in possession of four round orange pills and a red straw with residue along with the Visene bottle that Christenson had concealed when she was booked into the jail. The pills were allegedly Klonipin that aren’t prescribed but are taken for anxiety, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
“On November 4, 2024, at 13:24 (the child) completed a CAC forensic interview,” the affidavit states. “During the interview (the child) disclosed that the defendant made her ‘pee’ in a clear measuring cup in exchange for the use of her cell phone on or about Friday, Oct. 11, 2024.”
