Company Townes continues to draw attention – in a positive way.

The Warren-based band has been asked by WPSU Public TV to perform Thursday at 8 p.m. on its program Local Groove Presents.

The performance show features bands and musicians from across Pennsylvania. The series creates a showcase for Pennsylvania artists to share their music. As part of a fundraising event, according to wpsu.psu.edu, the show will be broadcast live from the WPSU TV studio.

Company Townes guitarist/vocalist Eric Morelli said the band previously worked with Andy Grant of WPSU and filmed a performance there.

“We are grateful to have been selected to perform on Local Groove Presents as part of a live fundraising event for WPSU (PBS/NPR State College),” Morelli said. “We worked with Andy Grant to film a performance that aired locally alongside the Ken Burns Country Music documentary series in 2019.”

Company Townes - made up of Sara Aiello, Jody Aiello, Eric Morelli and Nate Blick - are pictured. The band is performing its first live television show Thursday as a fundraiser for WPSU Public TV on its show, Local Groove Presents.

Company Townes has toured with Dwight Yoakam. Yoakam performed in 2022 in Warren at the Struthers Library Theatre , with Warren-based band Co. Townes as his opening act. Company Townes opened three more times in 2022 for Yoakam, with that string of dates leading to another set of Company Townes dates with Yoakam in 2024 in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Yoakam recently announced he will perform in April 2025 at the Seneca Casino, in Salamanca, N.Y.

Company Townes also was the opening act for Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives at Struthers Library Theatre on Nov. 17.

The footage that was filmed with Grant also was used for the Stuart and Yoakam performances, Morelli said.

“We used that … footage to secure our spots on a couple of Dwight Yoakam tours and a show with Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, so when Andy called about this fundraiser we were happy to accept the invite. It’s a good cause; everyone should consider giving to their local public broadcast stations,” Morelli added.

Morelli noted that Company Townes will perform for 30 minutes with a separate 10-minute encore, plus a brief live on-air interview.

“That will amount to seven or eight tunes, all original,” Morelli said about the performance. “It’s our first time doing live TV, so the nerves are up, but we play our best under pressure, and we’ll do our honest best to behave.”

The rest of the members include guitarist/vocalist Jody Aiello, bassist/ vocalist Sara Aiello, and drummer Nate Blick.

If you have seen pictures of Company Townes or even had the chance to see the members perform in concert, then, probably you may have seen them in their custom-made Nudie Cohen or “Nudie” style suits. Each member has his or her own, distinct colorful, rhinestone-adorned suit.

Maybe the members will wear them for the broadcast.

“We rarely get to wear the suits; they’re for special occasions only. It’s great to have such an occasion,” Morelli added.

What people don’t know, Morelli said, is that each member is responsible for their own suit. Now each member has two suits. Morelli has purple and red.

Currently the band is working on songs for a new album. Morelli said there is no one songwriter in the band. Jody Aiello, Sara Aiello, as well as Morelli present ideas to each other, and bring their ideas to rehearsal. Morelli said that in recent years the band has moved toward Jody’s ideas as Morelli has transitioned into playing more lead guitar and singing harmonies, but their songs still go through a team-editing process.
