The exhibit opens with a gallery dedicated to environmental art, showcasing breathtaking depictions of landscapes and architecture. The works draw viewers into serene natural settings and meticulously detailed structures, emphasizing the harmonious interplay between humanity and the natural world.
The second room presents a standout feature of the exhibit: a projection of an animated painting titled A Windmill Day.
This five-minute loop, created specifically for the show, offers a contemplative journey through a single day. Beginning at night, the animation gradually unfolds as the sun rises over a windmill nestled among rolling hills.
Clouds gather, leading to a storm that sets the windmill’s wings spinning amidst rain before the weather clears to reveal a vivid sunset and a mesmerizing aurora borealis.
Accompanied by soothing nature sounds, this piece invites visitors to experience painting as a living, dynamic experience rather than a static moment on canvas.
The third room features a collection of color studies, showcasing the artist’s dedication to honing observational and drawing skills.
Some of these works were inspired by the artist’s journey while navigating the process of U.S. citizenship.
Visitors can watch a 10-minute video explaining the artist’s techniques and thought processes behind these studies, offering an intimate glimpse into their creative practice.
The final room celebrates character design and situational art, capturing fun and relatable moments. A panel of vibrant characters is displayed alongside a 10-minute video that delves into the artist’s approach to character creation.
The pieces in this room balance humor, relatability, and artistic skill, drawing visitors into lively and dynamic worlds.
The exhibit’s creator, Cyril Jedor, is a Warren resident originally from France. Jedor lives in Warren with his wife, Kristine Peterson.
With multiple degrees in 3D animation, graphic communication, and web design, Jedor has earned several awards for his work. His art provides a behind-the-scenes look at the intricate processes of creating animated movies, video games, and more.
The exhibit offers viewers insight into the creative process of concept art, from brainstorming landscapes and characters to delivering a final product.
The exhibit runs through Jan. 5 at the Crary Art Gallery, 511 Market St. Visitors can explore the gallery on Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
Admission is always free, making this an accessible and enriching experience.
