Game Commission busy in county

The state Game Commission has been busy in Warren County in recent days, with citations written for everything from loaded firearms in vehicles to littering.

Rifle season officially began Saturday with thousands of hunters flocking to the woods – including many who traveled from outside Warren County. Citations began showing up on online court dockets before the season actually opened.

Joseph K. Ferko, 40, of West Seneca, N.Y., was cited Nov. 23 – just after the close of archery season – with a control of property violation by game wardens in Cherry Grove Township. The same day, Ryan P. Smith, 50, of Lakewood, N.Y., was cited for two counts of loaded firearms in vehicles, also in Cherry Grove Township. Robert A. Davis Jr., 50, of Corry was cited by the state Game Commission for littering and restrictions on vehicles Nov. 27.

The start of the season on Saturday brought further citations to area courts.

Richard J. Constantino, 47, of Jamestown, N.Y., was cited for unlawful killing or taking of big game Nov. 30 in Farmington Township.

A group of Union City hunters was cited Saturday by game wardens for violations of state hunting regulations in Brokenstraw Township. William D. Rose Jr., 50, of Union City was cited for littering and restrictions on vehicles and two counts of unlawful devices and methods. Candice R. Rose, 52, of Union City was cited for unlawful devices and methods.

Casler Rose, 25, of Corry was cited for unlawful devices and methods Nov. 1 in Brokenstraw Township and then again Saturday with unlawful acts concerning licenses. Christopher Rose, 48, of Cambridge Springs was cited for unlawful acts concerning licenses Nov. 1 and then with unlawful devices and methods Saturday, both in Brokenstraw Township.

Lastly, William M. Dick, 19, of Corry was cited with a regulation violation and unlawful acts concerning licenses Dec. 1 in Spring Creek Township.
