Rouse Home seeks funding for Memory Care improvements

The Rouse Home is looking to raise $3,000 in donations so it can begin upgrades to its Memory Care Neighborhood.

These improvements will provide a more vibrant, interactive, and supportive environment for residents with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related conditions. Planned enhancements include the installation of interactive murals, personalized apartment doors with distinct colors and numbers to aid in wayfinding, and a fresh coat of paint for the neighborhood, which has shown signs of wear since its opening in the late 1990s.

“Giving Tuesday is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents,” said Susan Teconchuk, chief executive officer of the Rouse Home. “This final push will help us continue to provide exceptional care in a refreshed and engaging environment, supporting the cognitive well-being and comfort of those we serve.”

Raising the final $3,000 will complete the last phase of a $15,000 fundraising goal. Those interested in donating can visit rouse.org/donate on Giving Tuesday. Every donation will support the ongoing improvements to the Memory Care Neighborhood.

“The individuals living with dementia are incredibly valuable members of our community. They have rich life stories, unique experiences, and the right to live in an environment that reflects dignity and warmth. We are excited to enhance their lives through a more vibrant and homelike environment that will support their well-being and encourage meaningful engagement each day,” said Zach Hammersley, Rouse Home nursing home administrator.

In addition to fundraising efforts, the 2023 Annual Report will spotlight Rouse’s key accomplishments over the year. The report will be available on www.rouse.org on December 3.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a day that encourages people to do good held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year.

“The support we receive from our community enables us to provide not just excellent care, but truly transformative services and cutting-edge amenities for our residents,” said Jonathan Nelson, Rouse Home CFO. “This Giving Tuesday, we invite everyone to come together and help us push the boundaries of what’s possible, making a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.”
