Alyssa Hankey to feature at free concert Thursday, January 30
Alyssa Hankey, a singer-songwriter from rural western Pennsylvania, will take the stage at the Struthers Library Theatre on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The performance, part of the Roots Rising concert series, will be held at Sally’s Encore Theatre Bar, located inside the Struthers Library Theatre at 302 W. Third Ave., Warren. The bar opens at 6:30 p.m.
Hankey, a self-described “traveling troubadour,” brings a blend of folk, country, and rock influenced by the steel mills and rolling hills of her upbringing. Her music is inspired by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, and Johnny Cash, among others.
Born into a working-class family, Hankey began playing guitar at 12 and writing songs during high school. While attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she honed her craft by performing at local open mic nights. In 2018, she left her job as a graphic designer to pursue music full-time, releasing albums, touring across the country, and forming the Alyssa Hankey Band, a four-piece group based in Pittsburgh.
Hankey has shared the stage with notable artists, including The Clarks, The Steel Wheels, and Charles Wesley Godwin, earning her a reputation as a standout performer in the Americana music scene. Critics have praised her ability to bridge generational gaps, crafting music for “old souls who want to hear something new.”
