Fight at Kwik Fill lands city man in jail

A Warren man was taken to the Warren County Jail after allegedly assaulting a man at a city gas station.

City police officers responded to the Kwik Fill gas station at Hickory Street and West Pennsylvania Avenue at 2:21 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man bleeding from his head who had just passed out in the store. Officers spoke with the man and, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed with in court, saw the man appeared to have been physically assaulted. He had what police described as a major cut over his eye along with redness and bruising, while the man said he lost at least two teeth from the fight. The man was taken by EMTs to Warren General Hospital for treatment.

“The victim was extremely disoriented and shaking, but could still communicate with officers,” the affidavit states. “He advised officers that the person who did this was ‘Justis’; officers shortly discovered the suspect was Justice Dickson …”

Officers found Dickson at a Fifth Avenue home, and according to the affidavit of probable cause Dickson knew why officers were there. Dickson was arrested without incident and allegedly admitted to officers hitting the other man with a closed fist 10 to 13 times as well as grabbing the man around the neck while he was hitting him in the face.

Dickson was charged with aggravated assault – attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, a class 1 felony; strangulation – applying pressure to the throat or neck, a class 2 felony; simple assault and harassment – subjecting another to physical contact. Bail was set at $10,000 during a preliminary arraignment in front of Magisterial District Judge Todd Woodin. Dickson was unable to post bail and was taken to the county jail.
