Home is Where the Habitat Is: WCCD hosts annual youth art contest
The Warren County Conservation District is accepting entries in its annual art contest for students in kindergarten through 12th grades.
This year’s theme, Home is Where the Habitat Is, invites young artists to explore the importance of habitats and their role in supporting life. A habitat provides the essential elements animals and plants need to survive–food, water, shelter, and space. By protecting habitats, we help maintain healthy ecosystems.
Students are encouraged to create original artwork that reflects the theme. Submissions must:
Be on 8 ½ x 11 card stock.
Include the phrase Home is Where the Habitat Is somewhere in the artwork.
Be created using pencil, crayon, colored pencil, marker, charcoal, paint, or pen.
All entries are due by March 14, 2025, at 4 p.m. Submissions should be delivered to the WCCD office at 4000 Conewango Ave., Warren. After collecting submissions, the public is invited to vote for the People’s Choice award. Voting will occur from March 18 to 31 during business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at the conservation district offices.
The Warren County Visitors Bureau sponsors the prizes for the first, second and third place winners in each age group. Formal judging will occur on April 1, 2025, and the winners will be notified on April 4, 2025.
The contest seeks artwork that creatively interprets this concept, showcasing the diversity and importance of habitats for all life forms.
