The pursuit of higher education is often accompanied by financial challenges, but Warren County students have access to an array of local scholarships that can ease the burden.

Two opportunities for scholarships are currently accepting applications while a free event Saturday hosted by the Warren Forest Higher Education Council aims to guide students in navigating these and other scholarship options.

The Zonta Club of Warren is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program, designed to support residents of Warren County in achieving their educational goals. Applicants must complete the application in full, providing all requested documentation for consideration by the Scholarship Committee. The Zonta Club of Warren Scholarship highlights the organization’s commitment to celebrating and supporting community members as they pursue their educational goals.

To qualify, candidates must be current Warren County residents and have been accepted into an educational program such as GED courses, college, trade school, or workforce training. Applications can be obtained at local high school guidance offices, county libraries, the Hi-Ed office, the NPRC office, from any Zonta member, or on the Zonta Club’s website. The Victim Impact Scholarship offers support to high school seniors within the Warren County School District. This scholarship asks applicants to reflect on their experiences or provide advice on navigating peer pressure related to drugs and alcohol. Through a 250-word essay, students share their insights, with the scholarship designed to reward resilience and constructive decision-making. Applications, due by April 12, also require an acceptance letter from a college or trade school, with money sent directly to the institution.

In addition to these individual opportunities, Hi-Ed is hosting a free event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday to help students and families navigate local scholarship options, successfully navigate filling out applications, and learn essay tips.

Featuring presentations by Professor Ben Blood of Northern Pennsylvania Regional College, and Mark King, executive director of the Community Foundation of Warren County, the event aims to explain the application process. Attendees will gain practical advice on identifying scholarships, preparing applications, and maximizing financial aid opportunities.

King will also highlight the scholarships administered by the Community Foundation, which distributes scholarship money to Warren County residents for various educational pursuits. These scholarships are a vital resource for the community, enabling students of all ages to advance their education and career goals.
