The Warren Area High School varsity esports team took home another first place in the Overwatch tournament at the Pittsburgh Combine.

Competing against teams from across the region, the players showcased their skills and teamwork to dominate the competition. The tournament started with a close match, with WAHS narrowly securing victory on the control map with a 100% to 99% score. After that, the team found its rhythm and took control of the tournament, confidently winning match after match.

“It was a fun time. Once we found our rhythm, we crushed the competition,” said team captain Alex Gulnac.

The event was a unique experience for the team, as they are not used to playing in front of a live audience.

Joe English, the team’s advisor, noted the impact of the crowd on the competition.

“It was great seeing them play in front of a group of people. They aren’t used to that, playing only from school or from home. The audience started out pretty small when they started, but the way they were playing drew people in to watch. We had the support from people here in Warren watching the stream live on Twitch, but we also had the support from complete strangers at the competition itself,” English said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
