23rd annual Women Are Wonderful event is Saturday
Held annually on the second Saturday of February, Women Are Wonderful was created as a way for women to come together to enjoy a day of learning, camaraderie, and fun, especially during the winter doldrums.
“It’s the perfect way to beat cabin fever,” said Melinda Johnson, event organizer.
Doors open at 8:15 a.m., with breakfast featuring a mimosa bar, and the event kicks off at 9 a.m. Participants can take part in workshops, like floral arranging, gardening, macrame, cooking, and more. Entertainment includes a Dedication to the Decades fashion show, basket giveaways and door prizes. Lunch will feature a baked potato bar, with prizes for the best-decade-inspired outfits.
“This event has always been a partnership between the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center and the Zonta Club of Warren,” Johnson said. “It’s a day for women to celebrate, connect, and learn something new.”
Attendance typically ranges between 80-100 participants. Attendees are encouraged to bring new or gently used bras, hygiene products, and underwear to donate to local organizations.
