As part of her recognition, Gabbie received a $200 award and patriotic books donated by the VFW for the TCCS library.
Each year, students participate in the contest by writing and recording an audio essay on a designated patriotic theme. This year’s theme was, “Is America Today Our Forefathers’ Vision?” Gabbie’s thoughtful response to the question distinguished her among the local participants.
Gabbie was honored in the presence of TCCS English teacher Laura Trost, along with Jane Novak and Doris Svitek from the VFW Auxiliary 8803. As part of their ongoing support for education, the VFW Auxiliary 8803 also purchased additional patriotic books for the TCCS library and history classrooms.
The Voice of Democracy program has been fostering patriotism and civic responsibility among students for more than seven decades. The competition provides young individuals with an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s history and their role in its future.
