Man held on $500K bond after Monday incident
A Russell man has been jailed after he allegedly tried to pour drain cleaner into a woman’s mouth and then refused to exit his home after police arrived.
Hugo T. Rosendahl, 57, was charged with three class 1 felonies including two charges of aggravated assault- attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes of injury with extreme indifference, and one count strangulation- applying pressure to the throat or neck. Other charges include misdemeanor charges of unlawful restraint/serious bodily injury, simple assault, two counts of resisting arrest, and a summary harassment charge.
Charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Laura Bauer on Monday by the State Police at Warren. Bail was set at $500,000.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by the State Police, Rosendahl was involved in a domestic dispute after a woman asked for help getting the car started.
The woman told police that “Rosendahl struck her, then held her down and attempted to pour drain cleaner in her mouth.”
The victim also stated that Rosendahl had thrown hot coffee on her. Officers observed injuries on the victim including blood on her face and red marks on her throat.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, “Rosendahl had boarded up both entries to the residence. He was instructed to exit the residence and would not comply.”
Troopers had to force entry into the residence and subdue Rosendahl in order to take him into custody. Rosendahl was unable to make bond and is being held at the Warren County Jail.
