Sensory movie night returns to Warren Mall Cinema
George and Tori Mead of Youngsville, in collaboration with Warren Mall Cinema, will host a sensory-friendly movie night at 6 p.m. today.
It’s the second time the theater has played host to a sensory-friendly movie; the first came in July 2024.
Designed for individuals with sensory-processing differences, autism, ADHD, or other developmental or cognitive disabilities, the sensory-friendly movie experience provides a welcoming and relaxed environment. Caretakers are encouraged to attend and enjoy the experience alongside their loved ones.
The screening will feature Moana 2, with adjusted theater settings to accommodate attendees. The theater will lower sound levels for the movie, and the lights will remain dim rather than completely dark. Additionally, guests will be free to talk, move around, or exit as needed, creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all participants.
“We wanted to create an affordable and enjoyable event for families who could benefit from a sensory-friendly experience,” said George Mead. “After reaching out to the Warren Mall Cinema, it became evident that the community was supportive of this initiative.”
Admission to the event is free, and attendees are welcome to bring snacks if food aversions are a concern.
Warren Mall Cinema is located at 4160 Market St., Warren. For more information or reservations, call Mead at 814-730-9001.
