CASA, Children’s Advocacy Center o hold road rally fundraiser

Melissa Sproveri, executive director of Warren Court Appointed Special Advocates and Melissa McLain, executive director and forensic interviewer for Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center, reviews the route and clues for the upcoming Road Rally benefit event.
A road rally to benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates and the Children’s Advocacy Center will be held Sunday, April 27.
The rally starts in Crescent Park by the Four Flags monument. Carloads of families and friends attempt to find their way around a predetermined course using cryptic and silly clues. The rally is not a race, but instead is a leisurely ride of less than two hours. Along the way, there will be questions to answer and things to count. There is something for children and adults to do during this event. Teams of four or more members are recommended.
A donation of $20 or more per car is requested.
CASA volunteers are trained to be advocates for abused and neglected children. They are the eyes and ears for the court and their hard work and dedication give voices to children who need that the most. CAC staff members are trained as forensic interviewers. They allow neglected and abused children to tell their stories in a safe comfortable atmosphere. Their reports are accepted by social service agencies and the court system sparing children the need for multiple interviews.
Pennsylvania is one of only three states that don’t guarantee financial support for CASA or Children’s Advocacy Centers, so First Lutheran Church is helping with the road rally as a fundraiser for the organizations.
The rally will wrap up Child Abuse Prevention Month and is limited to 25 cars. Call the CASA office at 814-723-4344 to register.
