Retail theft results in 3 months in county jail for Warren man

A Warren man will serve three months in the Warren County Jail and one month electronic monitoring.

Preston J. Beerbower, 22, of Warren, was sentenced last week by Judge Maureen Skerda in the Court of Common Pleas to a restrictive intermediate punishment to include three months in the county jail and a month electronic monitoring, a $300 fine, restitution to Yeti Vape and CODA Management as well as not to have contact with Yeti Vape or the plaza where the store is located, mental health treatment, and 40 hours community service.

Other sentences handed down Friday by Judge Skerda include:

– Cody J. Baker of Russell, who had pleaded guilty to DUI: highest rate of alcohol (BAC .16% or higher) – second offense, and a traffic citation. Baker was sentenced to a $1,500 fine, an 18-month driver’s license suspension, five year restrictive intermediate punishment to include 30 days in the Warren County Jail and 60 days house arrest with SCRAM bracelet, attendance in an Alcohol Highway Safety School, attendance in a Victim’s Impact Panel, attendance in a DUI intervention program and 30 hours community service, as well as a fine for the traffic infraction.

– Caleb J. Bean of Tiona, who pleaded guilty to DUI: highest rate of alcohol (BAC .16% or higher) – second offense and two traffic offenses. Bean was sentenced to a $2,500 fine, a one-year driver’s license suspension, seven years restrictive intermediate punishment to include 12 months house arrest with SCRAM bracelet, admittance into treatment court, attendance in an Alcohol Highway Safety School, attendance in a Victim’s Impact Panel and fines for two traffic infractions.

– Derek P. Brewer of Warren, who pleaded guilty to retail theft. . He was sentenced to a $350 fine, to pay restitution to Walmart, between 3 months and two years and one day in the Warren County Jail and 50 hours community service.

– Joshua A. Clark of Warren, who pleaded guilty to DUI: general impairment incapable of safe driving – first offense, and a traffic citation. Clark was sentenced to a $300 fine, six months probation, attendance in an Alcohol Highway Safety School, attendance in a Victim’s Impact Panel, 15 hours community service and a fine for the traffic infraction.

– Stephen W. Eck of Sheffield, who pleaded guilty to a charge of DUI: highest rate of alcohol (BAC .16% or higher) – second offense and two traffic citations on one docket. He was sentenced to a $1,500 fine, an 18-month driver’s license suspension, five years of restrictive intermediate punishment to include 90 days in the Warren County Jail and three months house arrest with SCRAM bracelet to run consecutively with a sentence on a second docket, attendance in an Alcohol Highway Safety School and Victims Impact Panel, outpatient drug and alcohol treatment and 30 hours community service as well as fines for traffic infractions. On a second docket to which Eck pleaded guilty to a charge of DUI: high rate of alcohol (BAC .10-.16%) – third offense and two traffic citations, Eck was sentenced to a $1,500 fine, 18-month driver’s license suspension, five years restrictive intermediate punishment to include 90 days in the Warren County Jail, attendance in an Alcohol Highway Safety School and Victims Impact Panel, drug and alcohol treatment and 45 hours community service as well as fines for vehicle and traffic infractions.

– Joel M. Evinczik of Jamestown, N.Y., who pleaded guilty to DUI: highest rate of alcohol (BAC .16% or higher) – second offense and a traffic citation, was sentenced to pay a $1,500 fine, an 18-month driver’s license suspension, five years restrictive intermediate punishment to include 30 days in the Warren County Jail and 60 days house arrest with SCRAM bracelet, attendance in an Alcohol Highway Safety School and Victims Impact Panel, 45 hours community service and drug and alcohol treatment as well as a traffic fine.

– Kurtis A. Groves of Youngsville, who pleaded guilty to simple assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct to satisfy four separate dockets, was sentenced to a $500 fine, one year probation and 30 hours of community service to satisfy his guilty plea to disorderly conduct, a $300 fine, restitution to the Warren County Jail and one year probation to run concurrently to his first probation sentence to satisfy a guilty plea to criminal mischief and a $750 fine, 24 months of probation and a no-contact order to satisfy a guilty plea to simple assault.

– Wendy M. Jones of Youngsville, who pleaded guilty to one count of DUI: controlled substances – Schedule 1-2 – second offense, and vehicle and traffic offenses was sentenced to a $1,000 fine, 12-month driver’s license suspension, five years restrictive intermediate punishment to include 28 days in the Warren County Jail with credit for 28 days already served, 62 days house arrest with electronic monitoring and drug testing; attendance in an Alcohol Highway Safety School and Victims Impact Panel, drug and alcohol treatment, 45 hours community service and fines for two traffic infractions.

– Kelby K. Saddler of Youngsville, who pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance and a traffic citation was sentenced to a $1,000 fine, 12-month driver’s license suspension, six months restrictive intermediate punishment to include 72 hours in the Warren County Jail, two months electronic monitoring, attendance in an Alcohol Highway Safety School and Victims Impact Panel, 30 hours community service, a drug and alcohol evaluation and a Court Reporting Network evaluation as well as a 12-month driver’s license for driving while under suspension and vehicle and traffic fines. On a second docket, Saddler pleaded guilty to DUI: controlled substances – impaired ability – first offense and three traffic offenses. He was sentenced to a $500 fine, 12 months probation, 100 hours of community service and a second 12-month driver’s license suspension to satisfy a second driving while under suspension charge.

– Owen N. Smith of Grove City, Pa., who pleaded guilty to criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to a $500 fine, $5,025 restitution, 24 months probation, a mental health evaluation and 75 hours of community service to satisfy the criminal mischief plea and 12 months probation to run concurrently and 30 additional hours of community service to satisfy the plea to disorderly conduct.

– A bench warrant was issued for Raymond L. Champlin of Sheffield, who pleaded guilty to DUI: controlled substance schedule 2 or 3 – second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and a traffic citation. Charges of possession of a controlled substance, six counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and three traffic citations were not prosecuted. Champlin was charged after being pulled over April 14 in Conewango Township. Champlin failed to appear in court Friday.
